Our Philosophy
Many people believe that daily brushing and occasional flossing is enough to keep their smile healthy. Drs. Cicero and Kenyon want to educate patients on proper dental care, as this common misconception can lead to a number of oral health problems. While home care is extremely important, visiting the dentist every six months for an examination and x-rays is vital to maintaining your smile. In addition, regular cleanings by the dentist every three to six months is also important to prevent the natural accumulation of plaque and tartar that you cannot remove at home. At our dental boutique we offer these and other general dentistry services in our warm and relaxing office. Your teeth may appear to be clean and healthy on the surface; however, Dr. Cicero and Dr. Kenyon can detect many issues that are not as readily evident to you. We will address any problems that are found, and administer the necessary treatments.
Comprehensive Examination
Dr. Cicero and Dr. Kenyon will see you on your first visit to our office to perform a comprehensive evaluation of your smile. They will examine your teeth, gums, and entire mouth for early signs of decay and gum disease. Should any problems be detected, you will be presented with all of your treatment options.
Digital X-Rays
Our office uses digital x-rays which reduces that amount of radiation exposure quite significantly. At your first visit a full set of x-rays will be taken of your teeth to provide for an accurate evaluation of your entire dentition.
Cleaning & Prevention
Brushing and flossing at least twice a day at home will significantly improve your oral health, but biannual visits to our Staten Island office for a general dentistry checkup are equally important. The combination of professional care and at-home hygiene will help prevent cavities, gum disease, and tooth loss. Your visits with Drs. Cicero and Kenyon will also give our team a chance to detect any issues that may require further treatment.
Oral Cancer Screening
Using advanced VELscope® technology, Drs. Cicero and Kenyon can examine your mouth for signs of oral cancer. Early detection of abnormal spots can be your best defense against development of oral cancer. The VELscope® screening technology uses a florescent light to highlight areas that may be affected by abnormal tissues in your lips, gums, and upper throat.
Sealants
Cavities often form within the deep, hard-to-clean grooves on the chewing surfaces of your teeth, or the cusps. Sealants are thin coatings of protective material that prevent decay- and disease-causing plaque and acids from collecting. Some of the most vulnerable parts of your teeth are those that cannot be cleaned with a toothbrush at home. Sealants are carefully painted onto the surfaces of your teeth and hardened with a special light to greatly reduce the opportunity for plaque and acid to accumulate. Sealants that are well maintained can last many years, and will be assessed during your regular visits.

Drs. Cicero and Kenyon suggest that your child begins making regular visits to the dentist as soon as their teeth begin to appear. Our practice is family-friendly and our staff works wonderfully with children. We will make sure our young patients feel comfortable and we will spend time discussing with them the importance of dental hygiene and dental visits. We also have televisions to keep them entertained during their cleaning.
